It is the year 2054 and the government, the business world and the media have merged to become one all controlling state organisation. Politics, commerce and entertainment are now the exact same thing: each feeds and supports the other.

Oh, What a Lovely World is a complete rewrite of our previous play The Best of All Possible Worlds where The Party is holding one of its periodic cleansing and celebration events with songs, sketches, jokes, audience participation: all connected with the central theme.

Oh, What a Lovely World is a scathing, often surreal, highly comic play: that looks at this world and is loosely based on 1984 and Brave New World and other dystopian writings. While serious in theme it is above all a comedy and the title is in homage to Joan Littlewoods’ “Oh, what a lovely war”; which shares a similar theatrical style – although our aim is always ultimately entertainment and humour.

We pride ourselves that we have always aimed to perform for the audience in front of us and the actors are both trained and encouraged to adapt their performance to the level and taste of each audience. We do keep, of course, ultimate control ourselves in what is appropriate and what is not.

Our plays are written and rehearsed to be adaptable; so they can be performed in any venue.

Including a full pack of activities and exercises focussing on comprehension, language, themes and skills work.

Our professional native speaking actors are trained by us to adapt and modify their performance according to the audience’s reactions.
